Creating theatre is always a challenge but even more so when you only have up to 20 minutes. How do you set it up, create some drama or comedy and bring it to a satisfying conclusion?

This is the challenge of Manhattan Rep’s REALLY SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL going up next week, March 31 through April 3 at MRT. We have choosen 12 very diverse REALLY SHORT plays and I am so excited to see what we discover about this unique genre of theatre.

This festival I am really hands on, organizing the teams and the performance and I will also be offering and performing in my own short.

The great thing about performance is that you really find our what works… And what doesn’t!  You find out where you can expand and where you can cut. It is a grand and glorious process!  (If only we would live our lives more creatively and in process!)

I am psyched, a bit nervous, and intrigued by the week ahead. The plays are so diverse and so are the performers - one play stars PUPPETS!
